DEMOCRATIZATION
OF COMPUTER-ASSISTED INSTRUCTION
It’s a mouthful, but it represents succinctly what seems to be happening in legal education in the United States today. More and more faculty are using the computer to deliver legal education. Extending classroom discussion with email, delivering materials via the Web, authoring computer-based instruction or electronic casebooks or using the computer as an electronic chalkboard inside the classroom are all ways that schools are "voting" on computer-integrated legal education.
Librarians are publishing rich datasets of primary material for local and global constituencies. Tech staff are providing the infrastructure that delivers electronic materials to students and adding a few innovations of their own. In short, everyone’s getting into the technology act and it is more imperative than ever that we coordinate our efforts towards common goals. That’s the purpose of this conference. Just like any democracy, if you don’t vote, you can’t complain about the outcome. So like they say in Chicago, vote early and vote often. See you in June!

EXTRA CONFERENCE EVENTS
- SHEAR MADNESS - FRIDAY NIGHT
Uproarious fun! Tons of Laughs! It’s complete and utter..it’s SHEAR MADNESS! Part murder mystery and all comedy, you’ll follow the cast of a hair salon as they solve the mystery. Even they don’t know how it will all come out since every show is different. This long running improvisational comedy show has been a fixture of entertainment for Chicago for the past 14 years.
- HOUSE OF BLUES - SATURDAY NIGHT
Chicago IS Blues and no place embodies that better than the HOUSE OF BLUES. Located in Marina Towers right on the Chicago River, you’ll experience the Blues, Chicago Style. Following a catered dinner, you will be treated to a night of the best the Blues has to offer. The bar tab is on you, but the admission price covers your food and entrance to the performance. As soon as we know who’s playing, we’ll post it on the website!
PAINTBALL! - SUNDAY AFTERNOON
It’s back! Once you’ve experienced the excitement, the adrenalin rush, the FEAR, you’ll never want to do it again. The battle field is a large "U" shaped factory floor with abandoned cars, plywood "houses", black lights, fog machines and blaring music. Using CO2 pistols, you and your team seek out the enemy in a variety of set battles leading up to the "everyone for themselves" finale.
Long sleeve shirt and pants are required! Your clothes will get dirty. The "paint" is water-soluble and washes out, but bring spare clothes that you don’t care about. Masks, CO2 guns and some extra ammo will be provided. At your expense, you can upgrade your gun, rent knee/ elbow pads or buy more ammo.
WARNING! Getting hit with the paintball hurts. Head shots are strictly prohibited, but our experience tells us that this can be quite common. This is not for the faint of heart or Sunday picnickers.
