Telecommunication networks are changing the nature of teaching and learning, especially as evidenced by the enormous increase of online educational offerings. Many institutions are feeling pressure to join the information age by offering online courses, yet most faculty and administrators are ill prepared to do this. It is timely to discuss the nature of these onlin offerings, since many educators are being encouraged to join the trend and students are beggining to expect access to new models for lifelong learning. This talk offers perspectives on this area of post-secondary and legal education. The purpose of the discussion is to identify significant issues in the development of such courses, specifically the pedagogical, organizational and institutional issues, and to include ways to create interaction between and among the learners.
